I am ecstatic to share this engagement session at Grey Cloud Dunes with you today!!! As a Photographer, part of my “job” description is to explore and scout for new session locations now and then to provide my clients with a list of my recommended places to ease the stress when deciding on a session location.
The Grey Cloud Dunes in Cottage Grove, Minnesota was an instant photo bucket-list location for me since the day my husband took me there for an evening date years back. The Grey Cloud Dunes is an open area that is covered with tall grass and, most obviously, sand! It overlooks the famous Mississippi River and the small towns/cities surrounding it. The components of this location make for a dreamy golden hour session, and this is one of the main reasons why Cecilia and Chena chose it for their engagement session!
Cecilia and Chena arrived on location in their best fits. She wore a silky off-white dress with rose gold heels and teardrop dangle earrings, and it was absolutely gorgeous! And Chena wore a powder blue button-up paired with beige slim-fit suit pants, a brown leather belt, and brown dress shoes. They are definitely fashionistas! I really loved the look they coordinated!
Their session took place two and a half hours before sunset; meaning the sun was still a little high up but was gradually setting at the pace I wanted it to for their session. And like any sand dunes, there wasn’t much shade to work with. Although we managed to find a small tree forest located by the trail we were walking on and stopped there to begin our session. We later ended our session during golden hour by the grass fields. And oh my goodness, it was sooo dreamy!!! I loved capturing Cecilia and Chena’s love in this light. It was perfect in every way!
Cecilia and Chena, thank you for trusting me to capture a piece of your love story. You two are so kind, warm, and genuine! I loved working with you both. You seriously are so fun and adventurous, and I love that about your relationship. From your constant giggles to the way you two looked at one another, your love was so beautiful to witness! I’m super excited about this new chapter in your lives and can’t wait for you two to experience the best parts of marriage! Thank you for being so open to anything during our session together, and for putting up with me and the number of times I’d say, “Wait, just one more!” over and over again. Because of couples like you, I am reminded how lucky I am to do this for “work” and all the while, meeting sweet and joyful humans like you both!
